if you look at the codenames for many products, and I'm talking about way back to the apple II days, air seems more like a codename for a product than the product name itself. Maybe they will announce something like they did with the "iTV" and refer to it by its codename, because they don't have a name yet and it's not even out for official release yet.

I really think it's about time the Superdrive came standard on all Apple computers, it 2006 not 1996. Hopefully the MacBook will also get Superdrive in both models.
The first mac to even come with the option of a superdrive (meaning writes DVDs) was the PowerMac G4 that came out January 2001. In 1996, Macs didn't even come with CD-R drives.

The current Napa64 platform (that is, Napa with Merom as the CPU) does support 64-bit instructions. It can't address more than 4 GiB of physical memory, but it can run the faster 64-bit instructions.

If that is the case all Apple is doing is shortening their Mac name Applications to App. Everyone else is just copying them.

From what I understand that was Steve Job's doing. The guy made a separate simple movie app, and Jobs liked it so much he decided to make it the new iMovie.
I remember the keynote... He was on vacation and wanted a super easy way to edit his home movie. So he whipped up this "new" program to do it. Steve liked it and it became iMovie. And in the process threw 50 years of video editing out the window. Great if you've never edited before, but if you want to edit, iMovie isn't an option. If you want to slap together a super quick video, it's almost faster to cut and paste clips in a QT7 window then use iMovie now.
Speaking of that. I really hope they fix QTX today also, at least bring it up to par with QT7 in features.

Digi have such a poor track record I doubt this but if Apple can do something new with a 17" (inbuilt isight, portrait mode swivel, higher def than 1280x1024) then I might go nicely with the mini.

There are a lot of old perceptions about diesel. I love diesel; they are inherently more efficient than gasoline engines.
I could say something like- "there are a lot of people in the US stuck on old tech, out dated, dirty, inefficient, gas powered cars that don't last as long as diesels nor have as good as ROI as diesels" but I wouldn't want to upset anyone who owns a technically inferior vehicle so I will keep my thoughts to myself.

When I mention the benefits of diesel to my friends, most of them say something like "Really, you're kidding, if they are superior in areas such as mileage then why doesn't the car companies make and sell them?" I believe the answer is because of the ridiculous emissions standards placed on the manufacturers by agencies such as the EPA. I believe that our government knows the benefits of diesel technology, but that too many powerful people are bought and paid for by giant corporations. You can call me a tin-hat wearing conspiracy theorist is you want to, but I really do think that is why many good things are being suppressed here.

I pity people who have coming to USA is foremost objective. In my case, i came to USA 7 years ago. Atleast i earned few bucks. But people who are dreaming about USA and taking education loans with the intention to payoff once they land in USA. It also includes people coming here on F1 with intention to work here. I find it abominable that there are still some humans(?) left in this century who want special benefits based on their race and country-of-origin in this 21st century !
It's time people were measured on merit instead of he is Indian, Chinese or some other nationality. Eliminating country quotas is part of IV strategy on the homepage. If someone has issues with it, well you are working against IV strategy !
Stop dividing people based on ethnicity - Indians, Chinese and others. Every one deserves equal opportunity, not based on their country, race or color (all abominable ideas to me) , but purely on merit.

If you think Memo is illegal why can't you file a lawsuit. That should be right way. But I did not see any suggestion from any lawyer. But when when July 2007 issue cropped most lawyers rushed to file lawsuit. Now no one even suggesting lawsuit except some members in IV. An additional thing I want to point out is that the US cannot make itself diverse by restricting immigration to a diverse population mix. It is a well known fact that Hispanic american women bear many more children than Caucasian american women. How does america fix that, and if it does not then why talk about diversity in immigration?

This analysis is really excellent, how far do you foresee the EB2-I date going this year. Is there any hope for new people to file 485 this year? People who missed Jul 07 have waited long and can wait till next Sep in the hope that we will be able to file 485 this year.
Spill will be around 30k for Eb2 and that will clear till mid 2006. by Sep 2010. In Sep 2011 you should be able to file for 485.

What I have learnt that USCIS is considering publishing rule ( Via Rule making process ) in dec 2009 to halt concurrent filling for I 140 and 485 and give chance to pre register for 485. so in Spiring of 2010 we may be able to pre file 485. which may / may not give benefit of AC 21 . EAD is always admin job so they can give out EAD and AP along with pre filling.

Thank you for your personal opinion. India was doing well when Vajpayee was PM. He is not some management honcho. It is a vision of the person that is more important. Manmohan is a learned man and has provided country with real good service but real power rests with Sonia and her son Rahul.

I mostly agree with you about Bajpai and Sonia. Bajpai is really a visionary and was good for India.
But we are not talking about Bajpai any more, We are talking baout Advani. He is not Bajpau and he is not visonary like Bajpai he is only Taksadhuu like all other politicians.
I would surely prefer MODI, MANMOHAN, Chidambaram even LALU compare to ADVANI to manage India as Priminister.

These armed groups only spring into existence because of suppression or power greed. Earlier times it was suppression, later it became power greed which killed the cause. Peaceful protests are always watched and will be supported by world. With technology in hand, (post LTTE) tamils could show to the world that they have a peaceful fight at hand.

Can I ask a question - tangential, maybe, but not by much. Why do Tamils have such a problem assimilating? Why don't they learn the local language and respect the local culture when they immigrate? Their motto seems to be "In Rome, be a Raman".
And the opposite is true when people speaking other languages settle in Tamil majority areas - they are, dare I say, forced to integrate, because that is the only way one can manage to live on a day-to-day basis. Would Tamils ever allow a non-Tamil minority to gain even a tiny foothold in their areas where the Tamil writ would not run? I doubt it.
Note that I am a firm believer of learning and respecting the local culture and integration. One does have a 'right' to propagate one's own language and culture, but they lose that right substantially when they emigrate to an alien land - whether it is within the same country or not.
To extend the logic, when we (mostly people of Indian origin in this group, I would assume) immigrate to the US, while we may try to conserve our heritage in private, we cannot impose it on the locals. That is when you end up creating ill-will against immigrants among the native population. America has been a great melting-pot, and has had great success assimilating great waves of immigrants from various countries including Italy, Ireland, Scandinavia, Germany etc, and the reason it succeeded was that in a couple of generations, there was total integration into the American culture. We owe it to our adopted country to do the same.
Don't bring this flavor to the discussions. Do you know 25% of population in Tamilnadu are telugu speaking people.
Previous CM(MGR) was a keralite, MS Jayalailtha is a kanadika, Superstar Rajinikanth is a Kanadika, Mr vijaykanth is a Andhraite.
It is true that tamilians have high respect for their culture and identity so as everyone in the world. Even now the jews practice their culture and language here, are they getting discriminated for doing that? The problem arises when anyone is discriminated for some reasons.

That's taking it a bit too far, I might disagree on most of the things ROW people say but I am not here to make enemies. I have waited and I do not want others also to wait, I just want everybody (including ROW people) to get out of this mess as fast as possible.

Our frustration with the US legal immigration and retrogression seems endless. My wife and I are considering immigration prospects to Canada.
